A two part exhibition presenting decades of American fashion, and marking the 75th anniversary of The Costume Institute. Over 100 garments from notable designers covering the 1940’s through the present displayed in scrimmed cases representing the patches of a quilt. Each section organized based on 12 characteristics: nostalgia, belonging, delight, joy, wonder, affinity, confidence, strength, desire, assurance, comfort, and conciousness.
