VINTAGE DUPONT PLAID LIGHTER
The “Plaid” DuPont gold-plated pocket lighter from the Maxfield Private Collection, made in France around 1965, is a masterpiece of craftsmanship. Each one features a unique serial number and the DuPont maker's mark, and undergoes a 4 to 5-month manufacturing process with around 600 operations and 300 tests, assembling about 70 components. What sets each pocket lighter apart is the assembler's personal touch, seen through their engraved initials under the striker wheel, reflecting pride and dedication. The lighter also bears a "20u” thickness stamp (20 microns thick) on the gold plating, ensuring long-lasting quality and luster.
