LOUIS VUITTON TRUNK, CIRCA 1920

The Louis Vuitton Trunk from the 1920s is covered in Vuittonite canvas, a refined finish originally developed at the request of the Tsar of Russia, and now transformed from its original bright orange into a vibrant golden-yellow patina from a century of travel and light. Areas protected beneath straps, handles, and inner edges still reveal the original orange, highlighting the canvas’s exceptional chromatic evolution. The exterior is completed with full leather trim, solid brass hardware, four wheels, two original leather handles, and three locks stamped Louis Vuitton Paris.

The interior is fully original, lined in linen canvas with a monogrammed padded lid and an authentic Louis Vuitton label listing the historic Paris and London store addresses alongside the trunk’s serial number. In very good overall condition, it shows a beautiful aged patina, well-preserved leather, and an intact interior with only light marks, while a subtle surface ripple on the front canvas does not affect its visual balance or structural integrity, making this an outstanding example of 1920s Louis Vuitton craftsmanship.
