LOUIS VUITTON COURIER TRUNK, 1892
Louis Vuitton courier trunk dating from 1892, covered in the rare Damier canvas produced between 1888 and 1896 and reinforced with leather borders, the most luxurious finish of the period. It bears hand-painted red family stripes and owner’s initials on each side, with solid brass hardware and three central locks stamped Louis Vuitton Paris.
The interior is lined in beige cotton canvas with a padded lid and retains its original removable tray with compartments for shirts, ties, and gloves, as well as the original label with a five-digit serial number. In very good condition for its age, the trunk shows a beautiful patina to the canvas and leather while remaining structurally solid, and its courier format is highly sought after by collectors and ideal for use as a coffee table or decorative piece.
