Rick Owens unveils L’Apparition, a sculptural candle conceived as part of his exhibition at the Palais Galliera in Paris. Drawing inspiration from Gustave Moreau’s 19th-century portrayal of Salomé, the piece channels themes of longing, divinity, and destruction that often define Owens’ creative world.

The scent begins with a whisper of lotus, a nod to the bloom held by Moreau’s Salomé, symbolizing both innocence and mortality. It then deepens into resinous labdanum and a lingering base of myrrh, frankincense, and ambergris.

Each candle is hand-crafted and poured in France, housed in a minimalist black glass container meant to be reused. Once its flame has burned out, the vessel can serve as a holder for a single flower stem, continuing its quiet presence as a design object.
