Karl Lagerfeld
Founded in Paris by legendary fashion courtier Gabrielle “CoCo” Chanel in 1909, the House of Chanel set the standard for luxury fashion. Now operating under the masterful eye of German designer Karl Lagerfeld, Chanel’s legacy and definition of style and sophistication endures.
Fashion designer, photographer, connoisseur of art and architecture, Lagerfeld’s haute couture and ready-to-wear collections for Chanel embody classic style with an infusion of modernism. Above all, Lagerfeld remains true to Chanel’s vision of cool refinement. Masterfully tailored tweed suits are embellished with such accoutrements as signature-crest brooches and flowers in metal and glass. Likewise, always feminine and elegant dresses feature hand-embroidered accents—adding a touch of fantasy and whimsy to an otherwise refined garment. “In order to be irreplaceable,” Coco Chanel once said, “one must always be different.” For a quarter of a century, Lagerfeld continues to create collections that meet and exceed the high-design standard set forth by Coco Chanel herself.
Maxfield’s proudly carries an exceptional selection of new and vintage Chanel pieces.

Olivier Rousteing
Established in 1945 by French couturier, Pierre Balmain, the brand was once known for their sophisticated eveningwear and elegant couture dresses worn by European Royalty and the stars of Hollywood’s Golden Era. After the death of Balmain in 1982, the label somewhat languished for subsequent years until the forward-thinking French designer, Christophe Decarnin was brought in to revive the Balmain brand in 2005.
Not only did Decarnin revive the brand, he revolutionized Balmain. While every piece is still as masterfully crafted and elaborately detailed as years gone by, Decarnin’s design aesthetic is decidedly rock ‘n’ roll. Current Balmain collections include everything from leg-lengthening leather pants to slinky lamé gowns. Additionally, each piece is flawlessly constructed, harkening back to the couture gowns designed by the great Pierre Balmain. Thus, Balmain is aptly suited for any women with a taste for the grandeur.
For a fine selection of Balmain visit Maxfield in LA—many of the pieces available at Maxfield cannot be found outside the store in all of Southern California.

Masaaki Homma
Mastermind Japan, is the brainchild of Tokyo-based clothing designer Masaaki Homma, who launched his menswear line in 1997 and has since added a women’s collection. Specializing in high-end street wear, the label draws inspiration from the punk subculture. Accordingly, Mastermind Japan is known for their signature skull and cross-bones design, which appears on everything from denim and t-shirts to hand-knit cashmere sweaters and messenger bags.
While Mastermind Japan is clearly inspired by the streets, it is Japan’s artisanal market that Homma turns to for textiles and techniques for use in his designs. The result of which includes the creation of diverse materials, including laser-cut leather and waterproof silk; and advanced knitwear techniques. Recognized for his meticulous attention to detail, Homma sets no limit to how far he will go to achieve the highest quality possible. As a result, a very limited amount of Mastermind Japan’s products are available each season.
In 2002, Maxfield was the first location to carry Mastermind Japan in the United States—and is still one of the only locations in the country where the collection is available. Exclusivity, therefore, contributes to the brand’s prestige among those in the market for high-end street fashion.

In 1896, Guido Guidi, Giovanni Rosellini, and Gino Ulivo, three master tanners and shoemakers, founded “Conceria Guidi E Rosellini” at Pescia in Tuscany. The trio set the standard for excellence that is still evident today. Now, simply known as Guidi, the company is a leading purveyor of premium leather. Now led by Ruggero Guidi, the master craftsman continues the tradition of creating footwear and handbags rich in tradition and unsurpassed in quality.
Chiefly devoted to maintaining the standards set forth generations ago, Guidi shuns mass production in favor of creating leather goods that are truly special and one-of-a-kind. From soft, supple hides to distressed, thickened leather, Guidi’s passion for leather and exceptional craftsmanship come through in everything he creates. As a result, fashion designers from around the world continuously turn to Guidi as the supplier of leather for use in their own designs.
