50'S HARRY BERTOIA GREEN ARMCHAIR
1950’s Harry Bertoia green armchair from the MAXFIELD Private Collection. “Bird” chair designed by Harry Bertoia for Knoll. The Italian sculptor and furniture designer worked with Charles and Ray Eames in the 1940’s before realizing his success independently. Crafted with a base of black lacquered steel wires forming lattices, this green upholstered vintage armchair is Modernist in style and features an organic shape with a high back and deep, scooped out seat style. Designed to be viewed from all sides like a sculpture, this functional furniture piece examines the relationship between form and space.
