1930'S ALUMINUM VIOLIN
1930’s aluminum violin designed by John Burdick for the Aluminum Company of America (ALCOA). Polished to a high chrome finish. From the MAXFIELD Private Collection. An elegant and artistic emblem of the Machine Age, this shiny silver violin is distinctive and sturdy with an unconventional and experimental use of materials. Dr. Joseph Maddy, founder of the Interlochen School of Music, collaborated with Burdick and ALCOA to produce this luxurious string instrument, which was distributed by the Aluminum Musical Instrument Company. Fully functional with an industrial design, this vintage violin is a statement art piece and perfect for recreation.
