Balmain
Established in 1945 by French couturier, Pierre Balmain, the brand was once known for their sophisticated eveningwear and elegant couture dresses worn by European Royalty and the stars of Hollywood’s Golden Era. After the death of Balmain in 1982, the label somewhat languished for subsequent years until the forward-thinking French designer, Christophe Decarnin was brought in to revive the Balmain brand in 2005.
Not only did Decarnin revive the brand, he revolutionized Balmain. While every piece is still as masterfully tailored as years gone by, Decarnin’s design aesthetic is decidedly rock ‘n’ roll. Current Balmain collections include everything from perfectly distressed denim and rockstar skinny leather pants to slim-fitting shirts and sleek coats. Drawing inspiration from the couture suits designed by the great Pierre Balmain, Decarnin remains true to the high standard set forth no matter how casual. Thus, Balmain is aptly suited for a laid back man of luxury with an appreciation for effortless style.
